The Topping E50 II is a compact desktop DAC designed for listeners who want clean power, flexible connectivity, and fine-grained control in a small footprint. An AK4497S DAC stage, XU316 USB interface, native DSD512 support, LDAC Bluetooth, and balanced TRS/RCA line outputs give you a desktop hub that slots neatly into a work desk or studio and raises the bar for what your music can do.
Compact desktop hub for modern listening
The E50 II is built for the desk first: small enough to sit under a monitor, solid enough to anchor a serious two-channel chain. With USB-C, coaxial, and optical digital inputs alongside balanced TRS and single-ended RCA line outputs, it connects cleanly to powered monitors, power amplifiers, and external headphone amps.
AKM decoding with ultra-low distortion
At its core is AKM’s AK4497S stereo DAC, part of the company’s updated VELVET SOUND family. The line-out stage delivers a THD+N of 0.0001% at 1kHz and up to 131dB of dynamic range, which means the DAC adds virtually no audible noise or distortion of its own. Quiet sections stay quiet, dense mixes stay open, and small details—reverb tails, room tone, fingers on strings—stay intact instead of smearing into the background.
Flagship USB platform with native DSD512
USB duties are handled by the XMOS XU316 platform, giving the E50 II native support for DSD64–DSD512 and PCM from 44.1kHz up to 768kHz at 16–32 bit. A custom Thesycon USB driver on Windows and driverless operation on macOS keep the connection stable for both everyday streaming and critical listening.
FPGA clocking and ADAT-capable optical input
Coaxial and optical inputs run through an FPGA+PLL-based TopSync circuit with JitterNull processing to keep digital timing errors extremely low—down to about −160dB in common jitter tests. The optical input doubles as a dual-format S/PDIF and ADAT port, so the E50 II can slot into more advanced studio-style workflows where multi-channel ADAT is part of the chain.
LDAC wireless and Bluetooth flexibility
Powered by the Qualcomm QCC5125 chipset, the E50 II adds a wireless side to your rig without throwing away fidelity. It supports LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, AAC, and SBC codecs and can reach up to 96kHz / 24-bit over Bluetooth. That means you can keep a clean, wired link from DAC to speakers or amp while streaming directly from your phone or tablet, getting performance comparable to many dedicated digital audio players even when you are away from your desk.
Ten-band PEQ with app and desktop control
A built-in ten-band parametric EQ lets you tune your system rather than adapting to it. Through Topping’s self-developed algorithms and the Topping Tune software, you can adjust frequency, gain, and bandwidth per band, independently for left and right channels. The software supports importing target curves, compensating raw measurements, and saving multiple profiles for quick switching. Paired with the Topping Home app, you can manage EQ, volume, and routing from your phone without leaving your chair.
Powerful balanced and single-ended outputs
The output stage is built to drive real-world gear. Single-ended RCA line out can be set to 2.6Vrms or 5.6Vrms, while the balanced TRS outputs reach up to 11.3Vrms (23.2dBu). Independent level options for single-ended and balanced outputs make it easier to match gain whether you are feeding an external headphone amp, a compact desktop power amp, or a pair of professional studio monitors, reducing the chances of overload or under-driving the next device in the chain.
Built-in preamp mode with remote control
In addition to fixed-level DAC mode, the E50 II offers a preamp mode where output volume is adjustable. That lets you run the DAC directly into a power amplifier or active monitors and control listening level from the E50 II itself. The included infrared remote adds another layer of convenience—mute, fine-tune volume, change inputs, and switch modes from the listening position instead of leaning over the desk every time.
Flexible TRS and RCA outputs
Both balanced TRS and single-ended RCA outputs can be used independently or enabled at the same time. That makes it easy to feed two systems—like powered monitors and a separate headphone rack—or to keep one chain for work and another for relaxed listening. If you regularly move between speakers and an external amp, you can leave everything wired and simply change outputs rather than re-plugging cables.
Minimalist interaction and clear display
The front panel keeps things simple. Three brightness levels let you dial in the display for anything from dark-room listening to bright daytime use. Touch-sensitive controls handle the essentials with a tap, long press, or double tap—no extra knobs or switches fighting for attention.
